FREE CONE DAY

If you happen to pop by Ben&Jerry today, remember to quee up for the free cone! The thought of it makes me drool. Get going before it’s too late!

Met up with Serene and YQ on Saturday for a meal at Chinatown! YQ has unique ideas and an exotic taste! I mean, she’s not your normal teenage girl.

HERE YOU GO YQ!right click and save it!

Serene came over to Bowen on Friday again. She bought my favourite chee-kweh over and we sat in the school canteen eating. A bunch of sec1boys came over and i told them to greet Serene as 吕老师. Without much hestiation, they greeted.  I lke innocent and navie little kids like them, they make my world a little more peaceful and beautiful.HMM, If I were to become a teacher, I’d most probably choose to teach in a primary school, a place where I would be easily delighted by the sincerity and truthfulness of the children. :P

My sec one kids are charmingly adorable, really. I like the way the greet me and the way they do their work. LOOK, they’re paying full attention during chinese calligraphy lesson.

ALright, so much so about these kids. Ser and I headed over to chomp chomp in the evening after settling some stuff in the staffroom! SEE! THIS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE! (lousy photography skills I know)

Walked over to”ice-cube”( the word “ice”, to the power of three, think mathematically) for dessert! We had brownie and ice cream! The ambience was great and  we really enjoyed ourselves. We were analyzing miss Lau’s method of teaching ‘function”, like her fruit machines and oragnes and so on. To be honest, I thought I was the only ignorant one who didnt understand that method, but it turned out that there were actually quite a handful of us who did not fully comprehand that “fruit machine method”. EE, Amaths.

Here’s our chocolate ice cream brownie! It’s in the process of melting! But it was defintely yummy! Doesnt look very good, does it? it’s called “appearence versus reality”. Ring a bell?  I realise that most of my lit text revolve around this particular theme, and I guess it’s so beause it applies to people from all era and ages. Don’t you think so too?

I’m an ardent fan of YOU!

Serene and I have officially become the ardent fans of Deyi Band! They were extraordinary brilliant and I guess most of the audiences at the National Stadium were impressed by their charming formation and rhythmic music! Of course, our Bowen Band did relatively well too! Although our band is only an 80-member strong band, the kids managed to clinich the gold award! I’m so proud of the kids :)   They have been practising really hard and it was indeed a well-deservedGold award! Bowen Boleh! They sung, did some marshal arts and waved their swords while performing! It was really an eye opener for the both of us who used to dislike band to the core! Band performance was always seen as a form of noise pollution to us in the past, but I guess thisSYF altered our opinion drastically! We didn’t expect the Military Band SYF to be so interesting! ( there were dancers, drum majors who threw their mazes up high and bands who can really REALLY shake to the beat!)

I guess I’m falling in love with my workplace, perhaps partly due to the amiable colleagues I have. They’re always encouraging and entertaining! Although school has taken up much of my personal time and my precious Saturdays, I’m still loving it! :) It was our 26th Speech day yesterday, I think yesterday was an auspicious day cos many schools chose to have their Speech Day on this fateful day! HAHA! and that includes Nanyang! Auntie Horny topped History AGAIN and we’re waiting for a good treat! Maybe one tiny little sweet for all of us? :P

Back to Bowen’s Speech day. I personally feel that it was a great success! It was somewhat like a mini national day parade! The NPCC, Boys Brigade, Girl guides and all other uniform groups in school did a fantastic job! They were really professional and the most fortunate thing was that no one fainted under the scorching sun! ( You know, it was a “tradition” for the uniform group peeps in my secondary school to faint during such a parade. Ok, maybe becos’ we’re a girls’ school) The band performance was the grand finale of the entire celebration and I seriously think that they performed much better yesterday as compared to the actual SYF! The guest were largely impressed and the Indian students from India even took a video of our band. HEE!

Met up with “LTC” for drama night at The Singapore Repertory Theatre last night. It’s always nice meeting up with them. Sihui’s brother came along and he joined in the fun of teasing ahmeng! ahh, SRT, if you could remember, was the place where we watched “Twelfth Night” when we were in seconday3! *Flashback*

“If music be the food of love, play on, Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, The appetite may sicken and so die.”

I guess that’s the only quote that most of us can remember. I remember how Mrs Koh would emphasize that our dear Orsino is indulged in the idea of love rather than being in love. HEH. make sense? I used to enjoy each and every lit lesson back then in PL, it was always engaging and interesting. Oh well, my passion faded off during my JC days, I don’t know why… …

Oh School

This April would be an extremely busy month. Many things are going on in school and I’m pretty sure that it’d be really exciting! I’ve been staying back till about six plus seven daily cos there are tons of graphs and essays to be marked. Okay, maybe I’m inefficient. But satying back in the staffroom is definitely interesting! We get to have our all-time-favourite-mac-delivery, mini sing-along session and food-gobbling teabreak. Of course, reading the essays and journals adds colours to our mundane jobscope too!  These students are surprisingly creative and most of us couldn’t stop laughing at their amazingly crafted essays! :) They’re really good at coming up with creative and hilarious story plots!

Joanne and I played a prank on our students on April Fool’s day! We did an excahnge and went into each other’s sec2 chinese class during lesson time. The first thing we did was to set the ground rules. They were not your ordinary ground rules mind you, but the excessively strict ones which assured the kids the great possibilty of getting DC(detention class). Up next was a surprise test for them! HEE! Most of them were shocked and it was funny seeing their varied expressions. We returned to our original classes after the prank and the first thing a boy said to me was “老师,今天早上很冷!” [当然冷啦!今天是愚人节!]

HMM.  My sec one kids are getting more and more adorable these days. I made  two boys at the first row stand during chinese lesson becasue they were making a fool of themselves. Then this little girl raised her hand and asked me “老师,我可以和他们一起被罚站吗? 我们要团结,发挥第一排精神!“ [我当时真的是哭笑不得,很可爱吧?]
